The Sea and Me Spoke With a Tree

The sea and me
looked back at a tree
and said how do you stand so still?
Kick the dirt off those roots
drown those leaves in the surf
float like a boat for us please.

Salt soak wave rock defrock that earth
that binds you
Set sail on the tide
toss the birds to the side
and feel what is to be alive

Tree sighed; I breathed it in
I do not wrestle, I do not writhe
I do not desire what I have not tried.
Where tides change; I remain.
Where wander lusts; I toss shade.
Where wonder's lost; I reclaim.
