Doctor
Somebody died today
not you
or me
I can’t do this I think,
so fragile I am so light and soft moth like
and here are all the things that need tending
notes, forms, lunches, pulling up underpants
and washing the ones that missed altogether
Getting them into the car though,
you know which one
takes flight up the road
cackling, a mad thing
a Pokemon tool belt thick,
a doctor’s bag
“doctor!” he screams
DOCTOR wailing wild laughter
and I crumble again into joy
into delight
into this wildlings arms
how I never knew I needed him
he, the doctor
we, the hurt
